Poonkudilmana is reputed as a shelter for those who suffer mental agonies and anxieties. This mana is located at six kms from manjeri to perinthalmanna a place known as vallikkapatta in Malappuram district.
According to a popular tradition the history of poonkudilmana starts from the era of Vikramadithya. Vararuji was a scholar in the Vikramadithyas court. Naranath Branthan was the younger son of Vararuji. Naranamangalath mana family was the descendents of Naranath Branthan. They stayed in Raiyanallur, Koppam in Palakkad district
The legend Narannath Branthan had something to do with Narana mangalath Mana and Poonkudilmana. Poonkudil mana family belongs to Bhargava Gothram migrated around the stream of Bhrathapuzha near Pattambi
The whole family practiced Mantra and Thantra and Chathirangam (a peculiar art form of Namdudiris). Narana Mangalath Mana is divided in to three by practicing above, in the later period.
